About

The electronic duo, who just performed at SYD FOR SOLEN, are returning to Denmark this fall, where they’ll be putting on an exclusive DJ set at the DR Concert Hall. If you’ve been following electronic music over the past ten years, you know that Maribou State is a sure bet for a genre-bending mix of downtempo, house, ambient, and understated indie pop that can set both your feet and your emotions ablaze. The tracks by production duo Chris Davids and Liam Ivory are imbued with a beautiful melancholy and infectious sensitivity, to which their regular collaborator, the formidable singer Holly Walker, contributes greatly. With its fusion of electronic and organic elements, Maribou State is akin to acts like Caribou, Mount Kimbie, and The xx, and like these artists, the English duo hits the sweet spot between partying and introspection. Maribou State debuted in 2015 with *Portraits*, and in 2018 released *Kingdoms in Color*, which includes, among other tracks, the sensational single “Feel Good,” created in collaboration with the Texan instrumental soft-rock band Khruangbin. The album reached the Top 25 in their home country and was praised by NME, Q Magazine, and Exclaim, among others. In 2025, the British band’s third studio album, “Hallucinating Love,” was released via the prestigious electronic music label Ninja Tune (Bonobo, Peggy Gou, Modeselektor). The album reached the top 10 in their home country and was highly praised by NME, Clash Music, and The Line of Best Fit, among others. Here in Denmark, Maribou State is a well-known and beloved live act. In 2025, they played a sold-out concert at Store VEGA before appearing at that year’s NorthSide festival. And following a successful appearance at this year’s SYD FOR SOLEN, David and Ivory are already returning to Denmark this fall.
