About

weed420 is one of the most visionary names on Venezuela’s music scene. Together with acts such as Los Thutanakas, the young collective creates a soundtrack for a lost generation of Venezuelan youth. Somewhere between tradition and futurism, they build frantic, labyrinthine sound collages from noise, dark cloud rap and ambient, crossed with genres such as salsa and perreo. The result is radical protest music – an artistic refuge and a form of cultural counterpower amid Venezuela’s political turmoil. “One of the coolest things I’ve heard this year” – Pitchfork With their DIY aesthetic, weed420 defies any commercial agenda. They blend lo-fi and vaporwave with dark cloud-rap vocals and ambient textures, crossing them with traditional genres such as perreo and 2000s salsa.
