Hangaren occupies a raw industrial hangar on Refshaleøen, the former naval dockyard peninsula that has become one of Copenhagen's main hubs for large-scale electronic events. The venue runs its own club nights alongside regular takeovers by outside promoters and collectives, with programming that spans techno, house, trance and harder club sounds. Its unfinished, warehouse-style interior — high ceilings, exposed structure, minimal decoration — supports a large-format sound and lighting setup built for extended sets rather than a conventional nightclub layout. Alongside neighbouring venues like Poolen, Hangaren has helped establish Refshaleøen as a destination for Copenhagen's club and warehouse-party scene, drawing both local and touring international DJs.
